LK Initiatives is a remotely based Social Work consulting service offering professional supervision, support and guidance to Social Workers and other professionals.
At LK Initiatives I am dedicated to providing a service that meets your needs and offers an emotionally supportive and safe space for self-reflection and can facilitate open discussions about practice related issues, a professional challenge or ethical dilemma.
My service is designed to ensure your wellbeing and self-care needs are always being considered whilst ensuring you receive a highly professional and confidential service that is trauma informed, person centred and tailored to your individual needs and requirements.
My approach is always centered around being respectful, compassionate and ethically sound whilst focusing on the importance of
forming a connection.

ABOUT ME
I am Louise Kay, a UK qualified Social Worker based in Victoria with over 24 years' experience in the field of children and families work. I have practised in both the UK and Australia (VIC) having worked across government and independent sectors, not for profit fostering agencies and currently for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO).
I am a trained Clinical Supervisor through The Bouverie Centre; a qualified Family Therapist holding a Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy: First Nations (La Trobe University and The Bouverie Centre); a qualified foster carer Assessor and Reviewer (Shared Lives and Step by Step (2019/2020 ACWA upgrades)) and a Trainer and Assessor (Chisholm TAFE).
As an experienced Social Worker, I have predominantly worked in senior supervisory and leadership roles both within child protection, fostering services and in my current role as a Statewide Practice Lead. I have also provided mentoring support and supervision to students and have been part of La Trobe University’s Industry Mentoring Program.
Through my work within an ACCO I have direct experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. These experiences ensure that I am always practising in a respectful and culturally safe manner.
From my practice experiences within different workplace settings, I have gained valuable insight into what makes for good supervision and support. It is from these experiences that I value the importance of ensuring as Social Workers and other professionals we have a right to have access to these supervisory supports.
